The Apex, Bury St Edmunds, ready for music as Grand Piano arrives
After
six years of
planning, Suffolk's new £18.6 million music venue, the Apex, in Bury St
Edmunds, is now open and in full swing. A key part of the preparation was the arrival of the
Yamaha grand piano, which was supplied and fine-tuned by Rochford
Pianos of Woolpit. Much care has gone into the interior detailing of
the building, particularly with respect to the acoustic qualities. We
arrived to find a magnificent but empty space. This was soon
transformed as the piano was wheeled in on its side,
carefully lifted onto its legs and prepared for the first performance
at this venue. And what a pleasing sound.
The
Apex opened
its doors to the public for the first time in October 2010 when the
public had their first chance to have a good look, and listen, inside
this new venue.
The Yamaha C7 Grand Piano supplied and prepared by Rochford Pianos.
